The demand for sustainable fashion has continued to increase in recent years due to a greater awareness of the impact on the environment by the fashion industry. Fortunately, there is a growing number of brands that are working hard to increase environmental friendliness and corporate social responsibility in fashion, from using more sustainable materials to ensuring good working conditions. That is why Modefabriek is launching The Sustainable Stop during the 2022 edition on 10 and 11 July - a central place for sustainable brands and designers, with the aim of making sustainable entrepreneurship in fashion more accessible.
The Sustainable Stop
The new edition of the largest fashion trade event in the Benelux is all about inspiring and bringing together the fashion community, this time with an extra focus on sustainability. At The Sustainable Stop, more than 50 labels present their collections, experts provide information about responsible procurement and fashion brands are brought into contact with European producers who guarantee sustainability. Also, the Amsterdam e-commerce platform PARO Store will present 15 European new generation brands with awesome designs.
Sustainability Values
The seven Modefabriek values (compiled with RethinkRebels) that you will find on The Sustainable Stop are: Ambitious, Transparent, Eco-Friendly, Circular, Good Working Conditions, Sustainable Materials, and Giving Back to Local Communities. All brands that are on The Sustainable Stop translate sustainability into their own values: one has a collection with 100% sustainable materials, the other is B Corp certified, yet another only works with independently certified factories, produces / sources 100% locally, another buys fair trade and the other offers circular solutions and compensates CO2.
Sustainable fashion talent
What can you expect? Fresh, independent labels from Europe such as the Spanish Thinking MU, a sustainable brand with a strong focus on environmentally friendly materials and a transparent production process. Since their founding in 2008, the brand has contributed to a more conscious and slower consumption system by bringing together their love of clothing and the environment in affordable fashion of high, sustainable quality. The French brand Ekyog is also present – a brand with a strong focus on both the environmental aspect and the social element through good working conditions with its own ethical standards. Ekyog is stylish and organic Parisian-designed clothing that is made in collaboration with responsible producers in India and Colombia, among others.
Dutch brand J LABEL, founded in 2018, can also be seen at The Sustainable Shop. J LABEL produces their colorful designs in a transparent, woman-friendly and honest way, which cannot be dragged all over the world. They want to make the fashion industry in countries such as India and China more sustainable and fairer, and create a positive social and environmentally friendly impact. They do this by using residues and working with small, certified factories. Circular fashion label Rifò comes from Italy and aims to recycle textile waste as much as possible. Since 2017, the brand has been contributing to their community by using local production processes that are always carried out with respect for people and the environment. The brand also invests in creating new yarns by up- and recycling, such as recycled cashmere and cotton.
There are many different ways in which fashion brands and the retail industry can contribute to creating a more sustainable fashion industry. Therefore, be informed and inspired at The Sustainable Stop on 10 and 11 July during this new edition of Modefabriek.
