In "Meet the Buyers at Modefabriek," we talk to retailers and buyers about their personal favorites, what inspires them, and what they are looking for at the upcoming trade show. This time: Paula Entius, women’s fashion buyer at Dirk de Wit Mode in Bovenkarspel.
Where do you get most of your inspiration?
“I look at street style in larger cities, but also on social media. Trade shows are also a key source of inspiration. Nowadays, we only attend trade shows and events in the Netherlands, but we used to go to Berlin and Copenhagen. There's nothing in Berlin anymore, and Copenhagen is actually a bit late. However, the atmosphere and inspiration there are excellent.”
What's on your shopping list for summer 2025?
“We're going to buy more wide-leg trousers because we've noticed a demand for them in our store. Additionally, we're looking for a younger, trendier brand. It's quite challenging because that segment is very volatile. Amaya Studio and Harper & Yve are brands we will definitely check out. We've never targeted young customers, but our clients want to dress younger, and since our renovation, we've also attracted a younger audience.”
Your favorite brand?
“I find Drykorn truly beautiful; the collection is stylish and clean. But I also love the femininity of Summum. A mix of tough and feminine is totally my thing. I also love sneakers. Via Vai has some really cool ones.”
Best find at a fashion trade show ever?
“Freequent, which we discovered at Modefabriek. The collection is very fashionable and Scandinavian, and the price point is highly commercial. In terms of sales, it's a top brand for our store. In Berlin, I always found Drykorn's stand beautiful. It didn't fit in our store back then. After our renovation last year, we were able to start selling it. I was very happy about that.”
What's on your personal wish list this season?
“I want a nice pair of wide-leg jeans with a rugged twist. A jacket or a nice blouse on top and cool sneakers underneath. That’s completely my look.”
Where do you like to shop?
“I know it might be controversial, but I always get ideas and inspiration at Zara. I also love home decor stores. Favorites are Basiclabel and the home section of Sissy-Boy.”
Favorite interior style?
“A combination of Scandinavian industrial with rugged elements in metal and wood. Calm and clean. That's how my own home is styled too.”
Why are trade shows like Modefabriek relevant to you?
“It's really about seeing and experiencing what the collections offer. Based on that, we make decisions on which styles to buy from which brand. We also check out many new brands at Modefabriek. Often, we follow new brands for a while before we start working with them.”
